Taylor Swift donated $100,000 to the Nashville Symphony

Taylor Swift celebrated her 24th birthday ( Dec. 13) by giving a generous gift, instead of receiving one. In honor of her big day, the singer donated $100,000 to the Nashville Symphony.
The gift comes at an important time for the Music City venue. The Nashville Symphony considered filing for bankruptcy earlier this year, and continue to try to recover from their financial losses.
This is not the ‘Sweeter Than Fiction’ singer’s first donation to her local community. She previously donated an astonishing $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, with the money funding the Taylor Swift Education Center.
Swift is home for the holidays before she kicks off the final leg of her year-long, worldwide Red Tour, which will play a series of shows in London in 2014, as well as a stop in Berlin

23 year-old Taylor Swift is a seven-time GRAMMY winner, and is the youngest winner in history of the music industry’s highest honor, the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. She is the only female artist in music history (and just the fourth artist ever) to twice have an album (2012’s RED and 2010’s Speak Now) hit the 1 million first-week sales figure.
With RED, Taylor became the first artist since the Beatles (and the only female artist in history) to log six or more weeks at #1 with three consecutive studio albums. RED has topped the Billboard 200 Albums Chart for seven weeks, following Fearless (11 weeks), and Speak Now (six weeks).

            Scandals in Country Music

 Glen Campbell
  1.  In 2003, country singer Glen Campbell had a run-in with the law in Phoenix, Arizona. According to police, he was driving drunk and hit a car at an intersection. He left the scene of the accident, and when confronted kneed a police officer in the thigh. According to Sgt. Randy Force, Campbell sung his hit "Rhinestone Cowboy" in his cell in the incident's aftermath. The singer pled guilty to DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. He spent 10 days in jail and agreed to carry out community service.
Billy Joe Shaver

In March 2007, Billy Joe Shaver shot Billy Bryant Coker in the face outside a bar in Lorena, Texas. Shaver used a light caliber .22 pistol, and lucky for Shaver  Coker survived
claimed that he had been defending his life.
"I felt he was gonna kill me," Shaver told a court in 2011. He explained that Coker, who had been rude to his then-wife Wanda, brandished a knife inside the bar and asked Shaver to step outside. "He was a big bully, the worst I ever seen -- a big bad one. And I been all around the world."
Outside, witnesses reported that Shaver asked Coker, "Where do you want it?" He then shot him and fled the scene.
All the same, the jury acquitted Shaver of aggravated assault charges.
Afterwards, Dale Watson wrote a song about the shooting called "Where Do You Want It?"
Shaver denies he ever asked such a question, and later penned his own song about the event called "Wacko From Waco."

This summer, Jake Owen revealed the release date of his fourth studio album on Jimmie Kimmel -- as well as an album trailer sure to wet fans' appetites. Feast your eyes and ears.
The album got some positive reviews from Allmusic, Country Weekly, Got Country Online and USA Today. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic gave it a three-and-a-half out of five stars, and thought that the album had a less polished sound than its predecessor. He wrote that "There's no mistaking Days of Gold for anything earthy, but this sonic thawing winds up emphasizing Owen's inherent sweetness in an appealing fashion."At Country Weekly, Tammy Ragusa graded the album to be an A-, saying that Owen's voice was "ffortless and easy", and that its themes seemed like an artistic evolution from the previous album. Donna Block of Got Country Online gave it a perfect five star rating, and called this album "precious", which fans and listeners alike should own this album. At USA Today, Brian Mansfield rated it a three out of four stars, and felt that after the first three songs that the album goes south somewhat, which he noted that the hits are likely to be the "party songs"; however, he affirmed that "the others separate him from the pack."

Troy and Adam withdraw album from Golden Guitars
Troy Cassar-Daley and Adam Harvey have requested that all voted nominations for their album Great Country Song Book be withdrawn from the 2014 Golden Guitar Awards.
In a media release issued late today, the pair said their decision had been made after careful consideration.
"There was, and still is, no problem with the album's legitimate qualification in the categories for which it was nominated," the release said, "however, due to recent objection and the ensuing industry debate, both Troy and Adam have decided (with respect) to withdraw their nominations."
"The conversations and debates about the album over the past few days has fragmented an already fragile music community," the pair said. "We are very proud of the achievements of the project however wish to not have the album as part of the Awards. We are just sad for country music that this has all happened. The last thing we wanted to do was cause any controversy. It was just two mates paying tribute to our musical heroes."
" The Great Country Song Book is a lovingly hand-picked bunch of country music classics, recorded entirely in Australia, top-heavy with both Troy and Adam's favourite childhood songs," the release continued. "Songs that evoke memories of families that lived and loved country music; songs that have formed the fabric of their musical careers such as their faithful rendition of Slim Dusty's Lights On The Hill which was released as the first single from the album in direct response to pleas from their fans."
The album went Gold after five weeks following release. It jumped to the top of the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) album charts, debuting at number one on the Country Album chart and number two on the mainstream album chart. It held top 10 on the mainstream album chart for eight weeks and number one on the Country Album chart for 13 consecutive weeks. The album currently sits at number three on the Country Albums chart and has sold more than 60,000 copies to date.
" The Great Country Song Book has been extremely special to both Troy and Adam and they have had a lot of fun touring the country together over the past five months with a talented band of Australian musicians, many of whom recorded the album with them," the release said.
